Where will your dance classes take you?

Medal Tests
Many students like to take part in our regular exam sessions where they progress from Social Dance Tests through to Gold, Gold Star and Award levels. Medal Tests are available in all styles of dancing and everyone is welcome to enter. At the lower levels it is possible to progress in a class setting, but at Bronze level and above it is advisable to invest in regular personal tuition in order to reach your full potential.

In a typical dancing exam you would show two routines to be danced with or alongside your teacher. Upon passing the exam you would receive a comments sheet giving your results, along with a certificate and medal.

Graded Dancing Exams
Alongside the Medal System, Graded dancing exams are also available. These are government accredited and provide a valuable technical grounding; especially important for those wishing to dance professionally.

Our exam boards are the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and International Dance Teachers Association.

Competitive Dance Training
Once you have been with East Sussex Dance for several months, you may want to start entering competitions in your chosen dance genre(s). You can start competing at any age, but are advised to have a private dance lesson every week. We regularly attend Ballroom, Latin and Sequence dance competitions across the UK and abroad. Some of our students also compete in Disco, Freestyle and Street Dance competitions.
